About the Director

Regan Chuhran is a native of Detroit, Michigan. She began playing piano at the age of four, took on classical guitar at 6, and started violin at 8. She would later learn to play the clarinet through her school band program, switch from violin to cello, and learned to play the pipe organ. By high school, Ms. Chuhran was an accomplished musician performing for prominent events such as holiday parties at the Henry Ford Mansion and a political brunch hosting First Lady Laura Bush. She performed locally in pit orchestras for several musicals, and went to the International Thespian Festival in Nebraska as a musician for the musical Chicago.

Ms. Chuhran's passion for teaching started at a young age. Throughout high school, she maintained a studio of 10 private students who received weekly lessons. Ms. Chuhran went on to grow in the teaching profession through her studies at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater, and Dance. During her time there, she performed in several university orchestras, bands, and choirs. Ms. Chuhran earned her degree in Instrumental Music Education in 2016. Immediately after graduation, she moved to North Carolina to pursue a career in teaching middle school orchestra.

Ms. Chuhran continues to seek performance opportunities in Raleigh today. She is currently the principal cellist and co-conductor of the Really Terrible Orchestra of the Triangle, a Cary community comedy orchestra. She is also a cellist in the Raleigh Civic Symphony at NC State.
